CDA to Conduct Feasibility Study for Providing Apartments to Staff

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has received instructions to conduct a feasibility study regarding the possibility of provision of apartments to employees in high-rise building configurations. This measure is taken and considered better than the allocation of plots.

According to the sources, here are the key takeaways of this provision:
• The Interior Ministry sent a summary in compliance with the orders of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) about the adverse effects of Regulation 5 of Islamabad Land Disposal Regulations 2005 on CDA`s Revenue Generation.
• The Interior Ministry seek approval from the Cabinet for an amended Allotment policy, which will be applicable to the CDA Employees under Regulations 2(f) of Islamabad Land Regulations 2005.
• The Cabinet has directed the CDA to review the Draft of this policy for a thorough assessment
• Cabinet also asked CDA to furnish a feasibility report in this regard
• Previously, CDA allotted small and low-cost plots to low-paid employees since 1971 for house construction
• On the other hand, the CDA Board has approved the draft Allotment Policy and returned it for resubmission due to changes in ministerial responsibilities.

The matter is planned to be reported to the court in the next hearing on 21st February 2024.
