
CDA to Reforest Margalla Hills by Planting Millions of Trees
Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has planned to launch a reforestation drive in the areas of Margalla Hills. The cost of this initiative is ranging up to PKR 2 Billion. The authority has deemed the project necessary for the conservation of management and sustainability. It will also address the increasing pollution and smog issues in the Capital Territory.

According to the sources, the project is planning to plant 10 million trees throughout the Margalla Hills and in park areas. This will be supplementing the natural resources and ecological balance. The Margalla Hills National Park spans a huge area of 908 km2 and will be rejuvenated by the much-needed initiative while increasing the green cover area.

The reforestation aims to enhance the flora and fauna over the period of 5 years, by helping the local plants grow better while covering a larger area. The CDA aims to restore the forest area of the Margalla park with sustainable development of the environment. This was also reflected in the PC-1 signed by the stakeholders.
