
NADRA, FBR Join Hands to Increase Tax Net
Rawalpindi: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have agreed to work in collaboration to expand the tax base in the country. This step is being taken to improve the economy of cash-strapped Pakistan. This measure will also include registration of new taxpayers that are not part of the net.

The Chairman Nadra, Lt. Gen. Muhammad Munir Afsar highlighted the need for due cooperation from the business community. He was sharing his views in a meeting with a delegation from the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) led by the ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari.
Chairman Nadra briefed the participants of the meeting about several initiatives aiming to enhance facilities and services for the citizens. He also talked about the NADRA e-Sahulat platform offering low-cost e-services for secure payment and collection facilities.
The network caters to around 17,000 active franchises that are connected with telecommunication companies and banks. The initiatives are also playing a role in offering job opportunities for thousands of citizens.

Mr. Bakhtawari acknowledged the efforts of NADRA to promote digitization for ease and convenience, such as the establishment of Facilitation Desks in the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a similar proposed project in the ICCI to streamline services for businessmen.
