
10,000-Acre Industrial Zone Announced for Karachi
Karachi: Federal Minister (FM) for Commerce and Industries Dr Gohar Ejaz announced a welcoming plan for a world-class 10,000-acre Industrial Zone. He introduced the plan on his visit to the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI). The proposed plan is considered to contribute a whopping $100 billion in exports in a span of 5 years. The project could also generate close to 3,000,000 jobs in Karachi alone.

FM Dr Ejaz expressed his views with the business community and expressed positive views about the project. He also mentioned the potential of this project to contribute to the economic growth of the country. He also stressed the inclusion of experts such as economists in developing the recommendations.
Similar views were also expressed by the Punjab Caretaker Minister of Commerce, SMT Tanveer who conveyed the need for development research and development structure. He also recommended enabling the Provincial and Federal Governments to utilize the recommendations in several policy domains, along with budgetary, trade, industrial, monetary, agricultural, SMEs, taxation, and infrastructure development policies.
